The BL Kitchen: Shrimp Alfredo & Asparagus Rolls

Cooking isn't exactly our favorite past time...but being married to hungry husbands has helped us learn to love it...sometimes. We love making dishes that are simple and take few ingredients and little time but still impress the taste buds. Mia learned this quick and easy shrimp fettuccine Alfredo recipe from her Italian grandmother, so this is us attempting to get in touch with those roots. Also, sometimes you have to disguise veggies to get your husbands to consume something moderately healthy, so the asparagus rolls are a hubby fav. Buon Appetito!

What you'll need...
Asparagus rolls:
1 bundle of asparagus
1 can of Pillsbury crescent dough
Garlic salt to taste
Parmesan cheese to taste
2 cups heavy whipping cream
12 tablespoons butter
1 cup fresh grated parmasen cheese
1 box of fettuccine
1 bag of medium shrimp

For the asparagus rolls, preheat the oven to 350 and wash and cut the asparagus. Then open the can of dough and tear the pieces into long strips. Wrap a strip around each asparagus as pictured. Then season with garlic salt and parmesan cheese. Bake for about 8 minutes or until the crescent is golden and enjoy!
For the Alfredo sauce, first melt the butter on medium heat then add the heavy whipping cream and whisk consistently (whisking your sauce helps it to thicken). Add the parmesan cheese and cook on medium-low heat for 10 minutes stirring often.  At the same time, sauté the shrimp with a little bit of butter, pepper and lemon and cook the pasta. Add everything together and stuff your face. Yum. The End.

Circus Runaways

Blahblah blah blah blah blaaah. We love ice cream, unicorns, and carnies.
Sooo we never got the memo that it's national ice cream month... First of all, we're offended. Second of all, we didn't even need the memo to know that it was a perfect day for ice cream. Third of all, when isn't it the perfect day for ice cream. Anyways, we got our ice cream fix at Bruster's, the south's best ice cream joint, and on our way back we saw the cutest carnival right on the side of the road like it was put there just for us. Since we had nothing better to do and just happened to be dressed like magical unicorn twins who were meant to be featured in a circus act we had to stop by. We repeat this was NOT planned. Well, us wearing the same awesome rad t-shirt was but the carnival was an unexpected gift from above. Yeah... we have a really bad habit of liking and buying the exact same clothes so half of our closets match. At least we like each other. It makes it much less awkward at parties and social gatherings. And guyz we are sisters! We feel like old-school Mary-Kate and Ashley, except we're grown up and still haven't told our stylists (ourselves) to stop dressing us like twinners (same clothes in differentiating colors). Also, we even choose the same ice cream flavor. weird.
Things got messy real fast. and then Sav cried like an infant baby child when this happened. So unfortunate.

Etsy Shop: Opening up a new can of worms

We are so excited to announce the opening of our Babe Locals Apparel Etsy shop! This is something we've wanted to do for a while & hope to expand it in the future. We started making ties for our husbands about a year ago because buying a tie at a department store doesn't say "I love you" quite like a customized hand sewn tie does. We love to make ties that exude personal style and get that cute girl to do a double take. We're also really stoked about these hats we've come up with. We hand pick vintage patches and make them into 3-panel hats to give these patches a new life! Some of the patches we've found have spent years on an old trucker's hat, been tossed aside, only to be peeled off and thrown in a drawer. It's a beautiful thing to give these patches a new home, and even cooler that these hats are one of a kind!  So, now we've decided to make them available to you Dapper Dans, near and far.  Or for all you babe locals out there looking for a special gift for your man! Check out our shop at this link: Babe Locals Etsy Shop. Or click on the "Shop" tab at the top of this page!  If our life was a fishing trip, this is like opening a fresh can of beautiful Mr. Wormies. Although, if you're like me you gently wrap the worm on the hook and give it a swimming lesson rather than stabbing the poor, unsuspecting guy.  And then you catch no fish. Oh well. BUT with this figurative can of worms we hope to catch many fish and we're excited to see where this venture will take us downstream. So to celebrate our grand opening, if you happen to find something you like in our shop use the discount code: CANOFWORMS for 20% off! We have 12 ties and 4 hats to choose from, so go check it out!

And of course we made our husbands model the ties. This was no easy task. Grown men don't sit still. Here are some of our creations!

Also, Shout out to our main lady Judy for being our first "like" on our Etsy shop. Whoever you are, thanks Judy....luv u girl
